The Health Promotion Department was founded in 2010 under the umbrella of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, which is chaired by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi.

To empower families and the Sharjah community with integrated health awareness, the Department strategically cultivates thriving environments rooted in healthy living, forges robust partnerships, and develops a comprehensive and accessible knowledge resource to empower community organizations with highly skilled national talent.

Health empowers individuals to actively contribute to their community and nation. Under the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, Sharjah has prioritized health and safety through dedicated institutions and initiatives.
 
From this perspective, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, directed the establishment of the Health Promotion Department. This initiative aims to strengthen the Emirate’s health awareness efforts, promote healthy lifestyle choices among community members, ensure their well-being, bring them joy, and advance Sharjah’s goal of being a leading healthy city regionally and globally.
 
Under the patronage of HH Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, and through the collaborative efforts of her staff, dedicated volunteers, and strategic partners, the Health Promotion Department has significantly improved health habits among community members, including UAE nationals and residents. By providing essential information, effective screenings, and health education counseling, we have strengthened public health and disease prevention. 
 
The Health Promotion Department, in collaboration with its affiliated associations at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, has actively contributed to realizing Sharjah’s vision of a healthy, child-friendly, and disease-free city. We are committed to continuously developing and expanding our programmes, events, and campaigns to enhance public health and ensure the holistic well-being of all community members, fostering a brighter future for them and generations to come.
